seriously

okay so we designated one cupboard their cupboard

and we didn't think that they would be able to reach into the the back of the top shelf

I mean there's nothing sketchy back there...

but it would be nice to not have to wash our entire arsenal of tupperware daily

clearly Alice has taken it next level

literally

discovery: almost 14 month olds will get into anything and everything so be prepared

on a non baby note... apparently almost no one wears lipstick... so I am not alone in this.... but most of you do share the whole wanting to wear it...

and in an attempt to keep up with the whole multiple appliance and expensive gear failings as of late, our television just shut off on its own (yeah it does that) and is failing to come back on... seriously!

happy wednesday!

do you do lipstick?

God sometimes I just see a picture and I want to be blonde... like full on blonde blonde... with a side of pink lipstick perhaps?

via
I don't even own lipstick... is that sad or do people actually wear lipstick?  I mean outside of celebs in magazines and on runways... maybe I should get some.... I used to wear it... like a shade the exact same colour as my lips... and by used to I am talking highschool.... which was quite some time ago.

do you do lipstick?  and if you do, what colour are we talking and which brand?

This week is going very well over here and all three babies (um toddlers) are asleep as I type.

Happy Tuesday!

chaotic recap... eighteenth edition

It's Friday... so we've officially made it through week one of daycare... not sending the girls to daycare but being a daycare... that means we've had one more little person with us this week.  Things have been going wonderfully.  The girls are smitten with her and she's smitten with Heidi (I mean who isn't?).

Monday night we also had a visitor.  A very important visitor in fact.  One I hadn't seen for a couple of years.  It was such a good visit.  I wish she could have stayed longer.  I wish she lived here.  I am so glad that she came.  Even though we hadn't actually been in the same room for years it felt like we talked everyday (which we don't).  It was so nice and even though Tuesday was a fabulous day here with the girls (all three of them), I felt an ache once she was gone and I wasn't sure what to do about it.  I'm still not sure... but maybe life will bring us closer together one day.

It's funny how being busier tends to make you more organized.  Well that's what it does for me anyways.  Who knew life would be so much less hectic when I actually planned out a weekly menu for the girls and cooked their lunch during their first nap?  I also got in a yoga video during the second nap yesterday... why wasn't I doing this all of those months!

enough of the words... here are the goods...

(our special visitor)

she brought kitty tops (someone reads the blog)

we have one million children's books in this house designed to survive mass destruction attempts...

but alas... they always go for the magazines

the rest of our week

what I read this week

I'm still reading fifty... the last one to be specific and I have no idea what I am going to read next.  I'm thinking about this but not sure I can wait that long seeing as I will likely polish off my current read this weekend.  Any suggestions?  A quick read perhaps?

what I did for me this week

I went to the gym... does that count?

what I found this week (a new one... yes I know)

pinterest

perfect hair... would my hair need to be past my bum for it to be able to look that good in a bun?
pinterest
I've decided I have a thing for printed sheets.. they just seem cozier for some reason

love this

How was your week?

happy weekend?

it's back!

I did a double take and then a little bit of oh my god seriously when I spotted this yesterday at the drugstore...

yes I know, it's a special edition...

but hey... if they can do it once... they can do it again

there's a mix of old and new in here with a ton of great tips thrown in

it's eye candy for the decorator's soul.

this was once my favourite magazine... it was neverly overly fussy and the spaces in it really do look like home and not overly styled (of course they are likely super styled to get that way).

Do you have a favourite magazine?  I hope yours still exists!

oh and that rug behind the magazine... it now lives in our entryway.. which is 99% complete.  Pictures to come soon!

park worthy boots

It's crispy out this morning and that's reminding me that I need to figure out what I will be putting on my feel all fall.  Normally I would throw on a nice pair of leather boots and be done with it, but expensive leather boots aren't exactly park worthy so I need another option.

Here's what I've found so far...

Minnetonka via shopbop

(trying to figure out whether I can handle all the fringe going on here)

via TOMS

(cute, TOMS so they are going to be comfy.. but perhaps a tad boring?)

via GEOX

(I tried these babies on and yeah they are comfy..  maybe a bit too warm for fall though)
Fyre via shopbop

(okay so maybe not so park worthy... but I like em!)
What will you be wearing on your feet this fall?

(p.s. three sleeping babies upstairs right now... bliss!)

happy wednesday!

first day...of ashley does daycare

Today was my first day of daycare.  We're doing a phased-in approach so she was only here for a couple of hours.  We've had many playdates together and I have no doubts that the girls are smitten with her... alice may have even given her hugs and kisses during our last such date.  This day was several months in the making and I thought I would be more nervous or apprehensive about this change but really, when I was thinking about it last night, I was just so relieved to be staying with our girls and really... what's a couple more children to take care of (especially when they happen to both be adorable)?  Yeah... I might just eat those words but right now I feel totally confident in this decision and I am excited for this career change.

I planned on writing more about this path to get to this new role and several of you have asked for updates so I am hoping to share a bit more about how this all came to be soon.

Happy Monday!

first day out

Yesterday I left the girls for the longest stretch of time ever... five whole hours!  My Dad (aka Papa) babysat them while my Mom and I went shopping and for lunch.  It definitely felt surreal.  I was only able to do this because I've pretty much gotten rid of the two middle-of-the-day nursing sessions (if they really ask for it, I still give it once in the day, but otherwise they are drinking organic whole milk from a straw sippy cup).

First we headed JD Adams in the glebe.  We're trying to decide on a rug for the entraceway and I brought one home last week that I loved in the store... and realized we hated it in the house... so now I have two more here... neither of which is really calling to either of us.  Any suggestions on where we could get a washable (yes washable) rug ... 3x5' to be specific?

Then we headed to Bloomfields which has recently moved... that place is way too tempting.  My Mom bought us some cotton... something I've had my eye on for quite some time.

Next we headed downtown for some more shopping and I came away with this...

found these jeans at zara and they feel like butter on and were oh so affordable!  The kitty t-shirt... couldn't pass that one up.  I held it up for Alice and Isla and they both started squealing.  We love kitties in this house.

Last stop was a restaurant for some thai food and wine.

We came home to two very happy little ladies.

It was a wonderful day and I am so lucky that my Dad is so relaxed about taking care of the girls on his own!

chaotic recap... seventeenth edition

It's been awhile... yes I know

what we did this week... (the baby goods (can I still call it that or should it be toddler goods....)... why you're probably reading this post)

We've had a bit of bad luck in the things keep on breaking department lately.  Camera.. check... microwave... check... patio table shattered... check (on this note... may I suggest that you never buy a glass top patio table... ever... it is hell to clean up!).

the new microwave is pretty... as far as microwaves go..
and the girls certainly got a kick out of the box!

we've been spending a lot of time in and around the kitchen... where Isla and Alice have tons to grab onto

everyone tells me that I shouldn't wish for them to be walking as it's harder apparently to keep up with them... but personally... I am ready for the walking.  They both want to "walk" assisted all of the time.  And there's only one of me.

we've been spending more time in the basement too... the carpet makes for very fast crawling... too fast for the camera in fact

we also hit the park at least once a day.  which means the sand hits our house at least once a day.

I love how they love to read to themselves.  and no they can't read... clearly... but they can think they can... and that they do... and it's so lovely to see them loving the books

the Heidi love fest continues

thank god she's such a good sport

what I read this week

I read fifty shades of grey, I read fifty shades darker and I am reading fifty shades free... and I wonder why I hesitated to read these books.  I mean, they're good... very good.  Andrew's been calling me fifty all week... he has no idea what he is saying.  I keep telling him he should read the books too... his response... bookmark the good parts... They aren't exactly prize winning writing... but that's really not my thing anyways.

I finished Shadow of Night a week or so ago.  It was a disappointment.  Seriously, I liked one third of the book (the last third of course).  So I will read the third book once it comes out but really, I could have done without a lot in that book.  Oh well, fifty has certainly improved my mood!

what I did for me this week

Last weekend I painted our entrance-way and I could try and say that it was for all of us but that would be a lie since I am really the only one who saw an issue ... or rather the potential... of what could be.  And I love painting... I just find it so satisfying.  I also got my hair done... which hadn't been touched since May.  Funny enough my hair stylist warned me pre-birth that my hair would likely ... well... go downhill after having the girls.  Such is not the case... it has never been longer and I believe she said something along the lines of my hair being good hair now.  No idea how that one happened but I'll take it.

What did you get up to?

Happy weekend!
